The Forest is a survival horror video game created and distributed beneath the Endnight Games. The game takes put on an inaccessible heavily forested landmass. The player character Eric LeBlanc must fight off the Cannibalistic mutants. He searched for his son Tommy, who got lost during the plane crash. Players play The Forest from a first-person perspective. The game doesn’t have set missions; the player must survive on his own. In The Forest, players controls Eric LeBlanc and must survive on a forested peninsula. In search of tommy after a huge plane crash. The players must survive by making weapons, shield, and other fundamentals survival instruments. However, the creators wanted players to ask whether the cannibalistic, on stars, who lives in the villages and caves beneath the landmass peninsula.
In The Forest the player develops the progress in the gameplay. He awakens the caves underneath the forest surface. The players are given a survival book in order to survive in the forest. Steam Greenlight accepted it in 2013. Endnight Recreations said that they took motivation from Disney for this diversion. They comment on that they don’t want the whole game to be entirely “dark and depressing”. Creators team has a film background in film visual effects. They have worked on very famous films such as The Amazing Spider Man 2 and Torn Legacy. The game was first released for windows via early access on 30th May 2014. The Forest was made by using Unity Engine. It sold over 5 million replicas by the end of the 2018. They released a sequel game, Sons of the Forest, in early access for windows on February 23, 2023.
Gameplay The Forest
The Forest game starts with Eric LeBlanc. He is a survival television actor, sitting in a plane along with his son Timmy. The aero plane devastatingly slammed into a forested area. Eric watches a man covered in red paint kidnap Tim before falling unconscious. He may also spot the man covered in the red paint. He enters a lab in search of his son. Upon entering the lab. Eric finds out that the lab’s staff dead and discovers that they were examining an artifact called the Resurrection Obelisk.
The Ancient Ones built it; the artifact can resurrect the dead but requires a child sacrifice. Eric learns that Dr. Matthew, a scientist, kidnapped his son. Matthew was a chief researcher at the company before lading his daughter Megan to escaped mutant. Despite being too late, Eric feels the instrument connects to the artifact. Moreover, He finds out the revived Megan but discovers that the machine has turned her into a cannibalistic mutant. If she further tries to change her it will results in her death. He then reaches into the facility’s observatory and finds another artifact called Power Obelisk. He finds out an EMP in the facility that was capable of controlling the planes. Then he finds out how their plane crashed.
In conclusion the The Forest has two endings:
- If Eric causes the plane to crash, he rescues Timmy. While interviewing on TV Timmy seems to be mutating like Megan, Eric comforts him.
- If Eric shuts down artifact, he losses Timmy. He leaves the facility but spares the lives of everyone on the plane.
